PLAYER CODE OF CONDUCT
At Norwalk Jr. Basketball, we are committed to fostering an environment that promotes sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, and respect. As a participant in our program, each player is expected to uphold these values on and off the court. The following Code of Conduct outlines the expectations and responsibilities of all players:
1. Respect for the Game
- Always give your best effort in practices and games.
- Honor the rules of basketball and play with integrity.
- Show respect to coaches, referees, opponents, and teammates at all times.
- Refrain from arguing with referees, coaches, or players during games.
2. Sportsmanship
- Win with humility and lose with grace.
- Applaud good plays—whether by your team or the opposing team.
- Avoid unsportsmanlike conduct, including trash talk, taunting, or gestures meant to provoke.
- Congratulate opponents after games with a handshake or equivalent gesture of respect.
3. Team Commitment
- Attend all practices, games, and team functions unless excused in advance.
- Arrive on time and prepared to give your full attention and effort.
- Notify your coach in advance if you must miss a practice or game.
- Support your teammates and encourage positive communication.
4. Attitude & Behavior
- Maintain a positive and coachable attitude at all times.
- Be open to feedback and willing to learn.
- Avoid negative behaviors such as complaining, pouting, or giving up.
- Keep language appropriate—no swearing or disrespectful speech is tolerated.
5. Off-Court Conduct
- Represent Norwalk Jr. Basketball with pride and integrity in your community and on social media.
- Avoid any behaviors that could reflect poorly on the team or organization.
- Take responsibility for your actions both in and out of uniform.
6. Uniform and Equipment
- Wear your full, clean team uniform for all games and tournaments.
- Treat all team equipment and facilities with care and respect.
- Bring the necessary gear to every practice and game.
7. Disciplinary Actions
Violations of this Code of Conduct may result in the following:
- Verbal warning from a coach or league official
- Reduced playing time
- Suspension from practices or games
- Dismissal from the team (in severe or repeated cases)
